Trendy Japanese restaurant featuring unique sushi rolls&hibachi. Signature cocktails, sake, beer and wine.

Located at 454 68th St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49548, Umi Sushi&Grill operates as a japanese serving Grand Rapids in Michigan. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Grand Rapids, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Michigan run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Clean and comfortable environment. Reasonable prices and good menu options. Service was prompt. Food items tasted great and portions are generous. Especially liked the spicy tuna roll and bumble bee roll. Thought the rice was just a bit dry but still cooked enough.

We have eaten here before, and since it is close to my daughter's place, we decided to go back. Main reason we picked there is, they had Nigeria, which is a gluten-free free option. She and I have Celiac. The first thing we ordered was edemame. When it came, my DIL has her 2nd edemame, she stopped and asked us what was inside it. And yes, it was disgusting! At first, I thought it was a maggot. The waitress took it, while other waitresses showed their disgust as she walked over to the manager. He said, oh, yeah, it's an inch worm...like no big deal! At this point, none of us had the stomach to eat even another offered order of edemame. We almost thought of leaving. Instead, the waitress apologized and said we can get another appetizer...an appetizer that should have been comped/free, but we ended up having to pay for it. Then, we ordered miso soup that had no flavor, other than tasting like soap. I did not finish mine, my daughter ate half of hers, and my DIL wouldn't eat it either which I understood since she almost ate an inch worm. Then we moved on to our meal. I ordered the Supreme California roll, which is fresh crab instead of imitation crab. It has a very odd taste and had we

This place is a hidden gem you might easily miss just driving by, but it’s definitely worth stopping in. The sushi is excellentβ€”fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The gyoza was just as impressive, making for a great start to the meal. They offer a solid variety on the menu, so there’s plenty to choose from whether you’re trying something new or sticking to your favorites. The atmosphere is relaxed with a nice, easygoing vibe that makes it comfortable to sit and enjoy your meal. Prices are also on the more affordable side for sushi, which is a big plus considering the quality you’re getting. Overall, it’s a great spot that delivers on both taste and value, and it’s definitely worth checking out.

The waitstaff was friendly and paid attention to our needs. The atmosphere was pleasant. Food overall was great. Only issues I had was my steak was a bit tough. It took forever for me to get my meal. The others in my party had already eaten by time I got it. Wasn't waitress fault. Kitchen was behind and arguing instead of getting dishes out. Management didn't offer any discount or apology. Waitress was wonderful tho. I still come back in hopes it was an off night. The food in my party everyone else enjoyed. Nice variety in menu.

Incredible food!!! I already can’t wait to come back! Awesome service, our waitress was kind and everything was incredibly fast. We got the zen box and salmon poke bowl. I have been looking for a place to get a bento box and this is it!!! Their yum yum sauce is also made in house which was the cherry on top.
